Life Goes So Fast As A Mom!

I can't believe I'm going to be 26 on Tuesday! I still feel the same as when I was 21. My uncle and aunt and cousin should be here to celebrate. We're celebrating late; Sunday the 19th instead of Tuesday.

Let's see, what has happened since I blogged last?

MOPs Meeting:

Desmond and I went with Melissa H. to the first MOPs meeting of the year in Pendleton. It was really fun to meet other mom's. We talked about babies and kids and husbands. The other mom's were nice and friendly and welcoming. It seems like a great group. Desmond slept through part of it, then woke up hungry and I fed him, then he sat and looked at everyone. I got to hold a tiny baby girl that was only 10 lbs and the same age as Desmond. It was like holding a pretend baby. She was a cute little thing. She was only 6 lb. something at birth. I'm so used to having my tall kid she seemed really small!

New Obsession:

My 2nd cousin, Missy, brought over a stuffed donkey for Desmond. It was very soft fur. I gave it to him and he clutched it and sucked on it. I made it kiss his nose and he smiled and put it in his mouth. He posed for a picture with it before Missy went home. He was a very good gift-getter. Since he liked the donkey so much, I gave him a Beanie Baby dog that someone gave us at the shower. He loves it. It's his new car companion. He can hold the puppy easily and likes to suck on the limbs and head. It's SO cute to see him holding tight this little stuffed beanie dog. I think it's good for him to practice holding things, so I'm encouraging it.

Fiesta Dinner:

Melissa H. hosted a Fiesta at the church and Desmond and I took my Grandma and drove out. He was asleep when we got there, but woke up during a rousing rendition of "If You're Happy And You Know It". Grandma Dee held him so I could eat, then my Grandma held him until I was ready for him. He was very good and smiled at the Grandmas and didn't cry for pictures. Liberty was there and he got to see her before we left. She was a very tired baby as they had been there a while preparing before the dinner began.

Pacifiers Rule!:

I bought 6 month + pacifiers when I grocery shopped last and he holds them in his mouth much better. This has made it much easier to calm him. He doesn't spit them out NEAR as much as the old ones he had. I can put him to bed with them and when he wakes up in the night I just find his paci and put it back in his mouth and give him a kiss and he goes back to sleep. He'll play happier in his seats and on his froggy mat with the paci because doesn't get frustrated at not getting his toys in his mouth sufficiently. So, go pacifiers, I love you.

You Know You're A Parent When:

You ask yourself questions like, "I wonder how safe it is to suck on a Beanie Baby..."

It's an accomplishment to get a shower AND dressed in the same day.

"Going out" means grocery shopping.

You've worked on fencing with a baby in one arm.

You've hidden from a baby who just partially woke up in hopes said baby will go back to sleep if they don't see you.
